My work lives along a boundary between figuration and abstraction. I’m drawn to metaphor, the territory that mediates between word and image. Color drives the paintings —its immediacy, subtlety, indulgence and seduction.

Dale Appleman lives and works in Washington, DC. Her paintings have been exhibited in solo and group shows in Washington, New York, San Francisco, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Stamford, featured in several publications and purchased for private and corporate collections. She grew up in New York City and worked at the Metropolitan Museum of Art following graduation from Skidmore College with a BA in Art. She has been a publications graphic designer for magazines, corporations, universities and non-profits.
